Les déplacés augmentent de 15 % dans la zone métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince et de 130 % dans le grand Sud du pays, selon l’OIM. Il y a eu un important mouvement de déplacés de la capitale vers cette région méridionale.
Les gangs armés intensifient leurs attaques à Port-au-Prince depuis le 29 février 2024, provoquant de nombreuses victimes et la destruction d’édifices publics et privés. Selon l’OIM, lors d’une attaque qui s’est déroulée dans la nuit du 10 au 11 mai 2024 à Gressier, environ 4 463 individus, soit 1 026 familles, ont été forcés de s’échapper.
Ces déplacés, qui représentent 92 %, ont trouvé refuge dans les communes de Léogâne, Grand-Goâve, Gressier et Carrefour, dans l’Ouest du pays. Certains se sont tournés vers les Nippes (4 %) et le Sud (3 %).
D’après l’OIM, 73 % de ces personnes déplacées ont été accueillies par des familles, tandis que 27 % ont déménagé dans sept sites, dont quatre nouveaux et trois déjà existants.
