La Chine a officiellement mis fin aux adoptions internationales d’enfants chinois, comme l’a annoncé Mao Ning, porte-parole du ministère chinois des Affaires étrangères, lors d’une conférence de presse tenue jeudi à Pékin. Cette décision marque la fin d’une politique en place depuis 1992, adoptée durant l’ère de la politique de l’enfant unique.
Mao Ning a toutefois précisé que cette interdiction ne s’appliquait pas à toutes les situations. Les adoptions intra-familiales, telles que celles effectuées par des parents biologiques ou pour l’adoption d’un beau-fils, restent autorisées.
La porte-parole du ministère n’a pas détaillé les raisons de cette nouvelle orientation politique. Elle s’est limitée à indiquer que cette décision était “conforme à l’esprit des conventions internationales”, sans fournir davantage d’explications.
“Nous exprimons notre gratitude aux gouvernements et aux familles étrangères qui ont manifesté leur souhait d’adopter des enfants chinois, pour leur bonne volonté ainsi que pour l’amour et la gentillesse dont ils ont fait preuve. Pour plus de détails, je vous renvoie aux autorités compétentes”, a-t-elle déclaré.
Cette annonce marque un tournant significatif dans la politique d’adoption de la Chine, qui a vu des milliers d’enfants chinois adoptés par des familles à l’étranger au cours des trois dernières décennies. La fin de cette pratique suscite des interrogations sur les futures orientations du pays en matière de protection de l’enfance et de politique familiale.
