États-Unis : Donald Trump Accuse Kamala Harris d’« Être Devenue Noire » pour des Raisons Électoralistes
Les propos de Donald Trump ont provoqué la stupeur et le choc dans l’assistance. Le candidat républicain a accusé le mercredi 31 juillet sa nouvelle rivale, Kamala Harris, d’« être devenue noire » pour des raisons électoralistes, lors d’un échange avec des journalistes afro-américaines à Chicago.
« Elle est devenue noire », a affirmé l’ancien président à propos de la vice-présidente. « Elle était indienne à fond et tout d’un coup, elle a changé et elle est devenue une personne noire », a-t-il assuré devant ce panel, comme le montre une vidéo en tête d’article. Des rires moqueurs peuvent être entendus dans ces images, et une journaliste de CNN présente a rapporté que les Américains dans le public ont été abasourdis par les propos de Donald Trump.
La modératrice de la conversation a rappelé à Donald Trump que Kamala Harris s’est toujours identifiée comme « noire » et qu’elle a fait une partie de sa scolarité à Howard University, « la plus prestigieuse des universités historiquement noires (HBCU) ». Corentin Sellin, spécialiste de la politique américaine, a expliqué sur X que ces établissements ont été créés pendant la Ségrégation pour éduquer la communauté africaine-américaine discriminée.

Lors d’un meeting au Texas, la vice-présidente a dénoncé le « manque de respect » de Donald Trump, affirmant que les États-Unis « méritent mieux que cela » et critiquant son rival pour « le même numéro usé ». Kamala Harris est née d’un père jamaïcain et d’une mère indienne. Elle est la première femme noire et originaire d’Asie du Sud à viser la présidence et la première à avoir été élue vice-présidente. Pour certains républicains, Harris a été choisie comme colistière par Joe Biden en 2020 simplement en raison de sa couleur de peau.
Donald Trump, qui cherchait à convaincre la communauté afro-américaine de voter pour lui le 5 novembre prochain, s’est mis en difficulté avec sa remarque. Il a également prétendu être le « meilleur président pour la population noire depuis Abraham Lincoln » et accusé une reporter présente de fake news, illustrant peut-être la nécessité de revoir sa stratégie électorale.
