Les révélations publiques du journaliste d’enquête Djovany Michel sur de présumés réseaux de trafic d’armes et de corruption ont déclenché une vague de tensions et de pressions judiciaires. Dans ses publications, Djovany Michel soutient que Jean Édouard Baussan est présenté, dans le rapport évoqué, comme un acteur central présumé d’un réseau de trafic d’armes, alimentant des gangs armés opérant sur le territoire haïtien. Il évoque également des financements présumés accordés à certaines autorités haïtiennes, dans le but de préserver un monopole sur le port de Port-au-Prince, à travers un contrat qualifié d’opaque, courant jusqu’en 2059.
Toujours selon ces déclarations, ce réseau exercerait une influence sur des institutions clés telles que la douane et l’Autorité portuaire nationale (APN). Des allégations lourdes, que le journaliste affirme assumer pleinement, tout en rappelant qu’elles reposent sur des éléments documentaires qu’il estime crédibles.

Au-delà du fond des accusations, c’est le contexte qui inquiète. Djovany Michel alerte sur les menaces physiques, les pressions judiciaires et même les risques d’assassinat ciblé auxquels s’exposent ceux qui osent dénoncer des réseaux puissants dans un pays rongé par la corruption et l’emprise des groupes armés.
« Dénoncer, c’est accepter à l’avance les représailles », écrit-il, résumant une réalité partagée par de nombreux journalistes haïtiens, contraints à l’exil, au silence ou à l’autocensure.
